Joint Bursaries Scheme
All the schools on this website participate in the Joint Bursaries
Scheme (JBS). The object of this scheme is to give financial assistance,
where needed, to help the children of Friends (members of
the Religious Society of Friends, or regular attenders) to
attend a Quaker school.
The schools themselves provide between 85% and 90% of the cost
of the scheme. The remainder comes from donations and trusts,
most of which have been created specifically for the education
of Quaker children. The scheme is therefore independent of the
funds of the Society.
How do I apply for a bursary?
When returning your child's registration form to the school of
your choice, parents should request a Bursaries at Friends' Schools
form (JBS5). Parents are required to complete this form detailing
their income and expenditure and return it to their chosen school.
This information will be used to calculate the parents' contribution
to the school fees from a standard scale. This contribution is
designed to leave the parents sufficient funds to live a simple
lifestyle
Each school has a limited number of JBS places. The schools'
Bursars will be happy to answer specific questions on the workings
of the scheme.
